Even though it’s been around for generations there’s a good deal of hype over chalk paints these days and at Rustic Restyle it’s fair to say that we are big fans of chalk based paints and what can be achieved using them. There are no toxic solvents or chemicals, so it is not only safe to use indoors but it has a minimal impact upon the environment. But what probably makes chalk paint so very popular is the ease with which it can be used and its outstanding versatility. Minimal preparation is required – just try and make sure the surface is clean, and once the paint is fully dry, add your choice of sealant.
Van Gogh chalk based paint gives a velvety finish which lends its self perfectly to creating a distressed look (with some gentle sanding). With a little imagination and little effort, you can transform your favourite table, dresser – or virtually any other item of furniture, as chalk paint can be used on a multitude of surfaces, including wood, metal, melamine and even glass!
Amongst our catalogue of products, we have a range of Mango chalk based paints (new label for van Gogh); these paints give a particularly soft matte finish, the 26 colours available have been carefully selected with the option of pairing complementary colours together. With a little practice applying more than one colour can give a sense of depth and interest that you don’t achieve with a single colour.
Mango paints are available in two sizes, 1 Quart (925mls) or ½ pint (231mls), we also supply kits that include everything you need to get your first project up and running, including a ‘How to’ guide for absolute beginners.
